Sikkim Manipal University is a pioneering institution built on a simple but powerful vision to uplift the youth of Sikkim through education, skill development, and meaningful employment. Established in 1995, Sikkim Manipal University is India’s first Public Private Partnership in higher education and health care. It was formed through an agreement between the Government of Sikkim and the Manipal Pai Foundation with the goal of offering world class education and modern health services to the region. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2f and approved by the Government of India, making it one of the most credible institutions in the North Eastern belt.

Over the years, SMU has grown into a trusted academic destination for students from the North and North East of India. It offers affordable health care services to the people of Sikkim and maintains a long standing social commitment through free and concessional treatments provided by CRH to BPL and local families. The university operates two vibrant campuses Medical and Technology each equipped with advanced laboratories, smart classrooms, and an environment designed to inspire learning and innovation.
