🎓 About Sikkim Global Technical University
Sikkim Global Technical University is a young and ambitious university shaping the future of higher education from the vibrant city of Namchi in South Sikkim. Established in 2023 through an Act of the Sikkim State Legislature and recognized under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956, the university represents a new vision for academic excellence and industry powered education in the Himalayan region. SGTU is also registered with the University Grants Commission and is a proud member of the Association of Indian Universities. The foundation stone of the university was laid by the Honorable Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay. This historic moment marked the beginning of a transformative journey that continues to inspire thousands of learners. The university currently operates across four constituent campuses spread across a ten acre landscape which is planned to expand to forty five acres. With a modern built up area of nearly seventy five thousand square feet SGTU provides an environment where innovation creativity and practical learning thrive. The campus is equipped with advanced laboratories for Physics Chemistry Biology Law Pharmacy and other disciplines. These labs enable students to learn by doing and gain industry relevant exposure from the very beginning of their academic journey. The strength of SGTU lies in its academic team which includes more than six hundred regular and guest faculty members offering a strong blend of academic depth and real world experience inside every classroom. The university library is another pillar of learning and research. With a collection of more than five thousand books journals and reference materials it supports students scholars and innovators as they pursue new ideas and build meaningful careers. SGTU offers a wide spectrum of traditional degree programs along with skill based and vocational courses that meet the demands of a fast evolving global workforce. Strong partnerships with leading multinational companies ensure excellent placement opportunities and career pathways for graduates. A reservation of twenty five percent is provided for local Sikkimese students and faculty members ensuring that quality education and employment reach the community at large. IGCSM is known across India for its significant contributions to digital literacy skill development and educational empowerment. Operating across twenty one states it has positively transformed the lives of more than three lakh learners. In 2023 IGCSM was entrusted with the responsibility of operating three Industrial Training Institutes and five Polytechnic Institutes in Uttar Pradesh under the Public Private Partnership model which highlights its proven capability in technical and vocational education. 📋 Admission Process
Admission Process The admission process at is designed to be smooth, transparent, and student-friendly. Candidates can apply through both online and offline modes. Step 1 Application Submission Visit the official admission portal or the university campus to fill out the application form with correct personal and academic details. Step 2 Document Upload Submit the required documents including mark sheets, ID proof, photographs, and category certificates (if applicable). Step 3 Eligibility Verification The university reviews the submitted documents and checks eligibility as per the programme requirements. Step 4 Entrance or Merit Evaluation Admissions are granted either on a merit basis or through entrance tests, depending on the course selected. Step 5 Counselling and Seat Allotment Shortlisted candidates are invited for counselling or interaction rounds, after which seats are allotted. Step 6 Fee Payment and Confirmation Pay the prescribed admission fee to confirm your seat. The offer is finalized only after fee submission. Step 7 Enrollment and Orientation Complete enrollment formalities and attend the orientation programme to begin your academic journey at university.
✅ Minimum Requirements
Undergraduate (UG) Programs: Candidates must have passed 10+2 (Class XII) from a recognized board with at least 45–50% marks in relevant subjects. Postgraduate (PG) Programs: A Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required. Diploma Courses: Applicants should have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream from a recognized board. Ph.D. Programs: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in the concerned subject with at least 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA). For reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC/PH), a relaxation of 5% is provided. Applicants with UGC-NET / GATE / CSIR / JRF qualifications are exempted from the university entrance test. Age Limit: No upper age limit; admissions are merit and qualification based.
